Job Summary

Fundraising Analyst is responsible for identifying promising startups, conducting financial and business analysis, and providing detailed projections related to scaling and fundraising potential. This role requires a deep understanding of startup dynamics, market trends, and investment strategies. The analyst will collaborate with the internal team and startup founders to assess growth opportunities, create financial models, and provide recommendations for scaling and raising capital.

Key Responsibilities

1. Startup Identification & Sourcing:

  • Conduct research to identify and evaluate emerging startups in various industries and sectors.
  • Use platforms such as Crunchbase, AngelList, LinkedIn, and industry-specific resources to source and track potential investment opportunities.
  • Build and maintain a database of early-stage startups, providing insights into their business models, financial health, and growth potential.

2. Financial Analysis & Projections:

  • Analyze startup financial statements, revenue models, and market performance to evaluate growth potential.
  • Develop detailed financial projections, including revenue forecasts, profitability analysis, and cash flow modeling.
  • Assess capital requirements for scaling, evaluating different scenarios for fundraising and operational expansion.

3. Market Research & Competitive Analysis:

  • Conduct in-depth market research to understand industry trends, competition, and key success factors for startups.
  • Identify opportunities and risks for startups in their respective markets, including market size, growth rates, and competitive positioning.
  • Develop benchmarking reports comparing startups to industry peers.

4. Fundraising Strategy & Planning:

  • Collaborate with startup founders and executives to develop fundraising strategies, including identifying the right investors (VCs, angel investors, etc.) and preparing for funding rounds (seed, Series A, etc.).
  • Create pitch decks and investor presentations that clearly communicate the startup’s value proposition, growth potential, and financial outlook.
  • Advise startups on appropriate fundraising targets, valuation, and deal structure.

5. Growth Strategy Development:

  • Provide strategic recommendations to startups on scaling operations, entering new markets, or launching new products.
  • Assist founders in identifying key metrics for growth, such as customer acquisition costs, lifetime value, and churn rates.
  • Work closely with startups to build roadmaps for short-term and long-term growth, including staffing, technology, and infrastructure needs.

6. Investor Relations:

  • Develop relationships with venture capital firms, angel investors, and other funding sources.
  • Provide insights to investors regarding market trends and emerging startups that match their investment criteria.
  • Facilitate introductions between startups and potential investors, managing communication and follow-up.

7. Reporting & Analysis:

  • Evaluate startup risk factors, including financial, operational, and market risks.
  • Provide mitigation strategies for managing key risks that could impact scaling and fundraising success.
  • Conduct sensitivity analysis on financial projections to assess potential downside scenarios.

8. Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Track the performance of startups after initial analysis, providing updates on growth metrics, fundraising progress, and market developments.
  • Prepare detailed reports for internal stakeholders, summarizing findings and providing actionable insights on investment opportunities.
  • Monitor the success of fundraising efforts, providing feedback to startups for future rounds.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field (MBA is a plus).
  • 2–4 years of experience in financial analysis, venture capital, investment banking, or startup advisory.
  • Strong understanding of startup dynamics, venture capital markets, and fundraising processes.
  • Excellent financial modeling skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software.
  • Experience with market research tools and platforms such as Crunchbase, AngelList, and PitchBook.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to create compelling pitch decks and reports.
